Walking Middle Earth

WHEREAS today is yesterday was the 23rd of September, the day upon which, in 3018 of the Third Age, Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee set forth from the Shire --

I hereby announce

my participation in Walk to Rivendell, an internet-based walking/activity challenge with a Lord of the Rings theme in which the distances between major milestones and plot points are set as goals. (Warning: this challenge originated in 2003, in anticipation of the Return of the King movie premiere. Though the website is no longer being updated, all of the resources are still available online) AND

the creation of this community, lotr_walk.

I invite anyone wishing to join me in this endeavor. All are warmly welcome to do so, to pick any leg of the journey that suits one's fancy, and to discuss walking, LotR and allied fitness and geekery here.

As I am That Sort of Geek, I'll be walking the distance from Rivendell to Lothlorien.
